Hey makers, here’s one more bobble stitch blanket which will add a sparkle to your living area. I call it a blanket coz my original idea was to make a blanket but when I finished it, it was a stunning gigantic piece which could be used as a crochet rug or a blanket or a bed-spread or a play area spread for your kids that will transform any space into a cozy heaven.
As usual I have a series of video tutorials for this blankie as well on my YouTube channel and here are the video tutorials for Rows 1 – 42 plus all the information you would need to get started! 👇👇👇👇👇👇
Alright then, lets not waste any more time and start with the materials :
Supply List :
Yarn :
You can use any medium-weight acrylic yarn for this project. I would recommend any solid or self-stripping yarn
I used the following :
I used this color for the “hearts-in-diamonds” border on 4 sides and used 11 skeins and a little more for the whole blanket plus the border so keep 12 skeins of this color ready – each skein is 200 gms / 7 oz
This is the color in the center of the blanket. I used about 5 skeins of this yarn, each skein measuring 5 oz / 142 g
Other than the yarn you would need
Stitches Used :
ch – chain stitch. (yarn over | pull through)
sc – single crochet. (insert your hook | pull up a loop | yarn over | pull through both loops on the hook)
bob – Bobble stitch – 4 dc done halfway in the same stitch (*yarn over | insert your hook | pull up a loop | pull through first 2 * | Repeat * to * 3 times | yarn over | pull through 5 loops on hook )
Measurements:
Finished afghan size (with border) ~ 60 inch(length) x 56 inch (width)
* Finished size is of the afghan made using the materials listed above. The size may vary if a different yarn, hook, or gauge is used.
Notes :
→ The blanket can be made with any yarn and a complimentary hook size. I used two complementary shades but you can very well use 1 or multiple shades as you wish. I would however recommend using any yarn that has a good coverage – which means it doesn’t create gaps when you crochet so any medium weight acrylic yarn would best suit this pattern.
→ If you are using a self-striping yarn for the base then a solid color for the border would look beautiful or you can use the same yarn for the border as well.
→ The concept of this pattern is to make bobble stitches on the wrong side of the blanket so they pop-up on the right side.
→ Every even row is a plain row of single crochet in every stitch and you should have 199 single crochets (sc) on every even row.
→ Pattern is written for right-handed crocheting.
→ All terms are mentioned in US crochet terms.
→ A pipe character (|) is used just to generate some space on the page and doesn’t represent any stitch.
→ If you wish to see a video tutorial of this crochet blanket, I have the entire playlist on Youtube – check it out HERE – there are row-by-row videos and you can use for reference.
→ In the pattern below “Color 1” represents the border color for which I used the paintbox chunky pots yarn and “Color 2” represents the brown color in the center. Every row starts and ends with color 1 and the entire project also starts and ends with color 1.
Okay then, let’s start making this beautiful baby blanket !
